Some people took a direct approach, aiming squarely at or smear-
ing the colors directly on their targets. Others took a more universal
approach, tossing the dust into the air and letting its blessings rain
down upon the crowd at large. Shrieks of joy came from the chil-
dren as they darted in and out of the crowd. As explained to me,
getting colored with the dust is a blessing, and so the more colors
you get the more blessed you are. People wandered through the
crowds, pleading “I need some green – does anyone still have
green?” After we had run out of colors to throw, we rubbed against
other people or shook our clothes at them to share some of our col-
or. It was a wonderful thing to share not only with friends but with
the large crowd of people whom I had never met before as well. A
large, diverse crowd of people entered the park, but emerged as
one sharing a common joy. A day to remember! An Indian festival
has come to America, and demonstrated the meaning of “E Pluribus
Unum”.

Mahaprabhu, appearing in Sridhama Mayapura in the city of Navad-
vipa, Bengal in the year 1407 AD. Sri Krsna Caitanya manifested
